This is the perfect course for those looking to expand your 3 season hiking and climbing skills. This introductory mountaineering course will teach you how to dress for winter, how to pack and select the proper gear. You will learn how to move efficiently in winter boots and crampons, and how to climb low to moderate angled snow and ice terrain. This is a great introduction to the skills needed for above treeline travel and winter mountaineering. No previous climbing experience is required for registration but participants should be prepared for a challenging day. The day will be spent outdoors learning and practicing crampon, ice axe, rope skills, and self arrest.
This course meets at 8:30 AM weekdays and 8:00 AM weekends and Holidays.
