A two-day, one night course for experienced mountaineers ready to make the jump to committing and lightweight ascents of alpine snow, ice and mixed climbs. A technical climb of Mount Washington combined with an exposed overnight campsite and a technical descent will be the focus of this strenuous test of skill, efficiency and strength. The White Mountains offer some of the finest mountaineering terrain in the country and provide a reliable training ground for alpine climbs in the greater mountain ranges of the world. We will cover advanced snow, rock and ice anchor/belay systems while utilizing a minimum amount of gear. Other topics include time management, rope management, route finding, avalanche hazard awareness, and packing efficiently and lightly. Registration for this course should be made by private arrangement. We can tailor a program to fit your level of experience and plans for the future.

If you are comfortable with ice axe and crampon use and have some winter experience, or you are looking to head to the big mountains, we have advanced courses to bring you to the next level.

This course meets on day 1 at 8:30 AM weekdays and at 8:00 AM on weekends and holidays.
