Six-Day Youth Overnight Camp
A skills based program for youth ages twelve to seventeen who want a challenging but enjoyable summertime experience. IMCS will provide technical gear, instruction, lodging, meals, transportation and adult supervision during non climbing hours. This will be our sixth summer session for this climbing camp. If your child has a genuine interest in rock climbing this may be the program you've both been looking for. In the past seven years we have had nearly one hundred and seventy youth climbers attend our camp. We are looking forward to climbing with more in 2008.

We feel that we do a really good job with this camp because we offer professional instruction and sincere enthusiasm. The camps will be run by AMGA Brett Phillips from Needham MA standing proud on top of Cathedral Ledge after climbing Recompense, a super classic 5.9. (click for full size image)certified guides and world class climbers. We have been in the business ofmountain guiding for over thirty years. Ourguides understand the special care required to provide a safe, successful experience to youth climbers.

We provide rock climbing guiding and instruction for many school groups, church groups, summer camps, Girl Scouts, and Boy Scouts. We have been working with the AMC Teen Wilderness program for over ten years. We run all of the climbing programs at the Cranmore Family Fitness Center here in North Conway. We have a lot of experience working with kids of all ages.
We encourage you to give us a call with your questions, concerns and suggestions. The safety and quality of our youth climbers' experience is our highest priority. We want youth climbers and their parents to feel comfortable with the decision to join IMCS guides for this exciting and challenging camp. Tell us about yourself or your child so we can recommend the most appropriate camp session and discuss details related to the climbing itinerary.

(click for larger image)The Youth Rock Camp is serious fun with a six-day itinerary focused solely on climbing and developing technical skills. We will build skills and awareness through a combination of single pitch climbs, multi-pitch climbs and technical skills clinics. Two days of climbing will be done at a 3:1 climber to guide ratio, two days at a 2:1 and two days at a 6:1. From time to time we have the option of going with a private 1:1 ratio to make things work. Because we climb with low ratios we can accommodate youth climbers of varying age, experience and ability levels.
The camp starts on Monday morning at I.M.E. at 8:30am. Pick up is at the Nereledge Inn on Saturday afternoon at 2:30pm.

Rock Climbing Builds Confidence
Climbing comes naturally for most children. It's fun, otherwise they wouldn't do it. If your children are climbing the walls at home give us a call about the variety of programs we offer at IMCS. Choose from indoor and outdoor programs as well as full-day and half-day sessions. We stress safety awareness and promote personal responsibility. IMCS staff are supportive and encouraging. There are many things that children of all ages and abilities can learn about themselves and each other through climbing. The lessons learned, and confidence earned, out on the rock can be used in many childhood endeavors.
Parent Feedback
I just wanted to quickly write and express how successful you and your guides were in establishing an upbeat and enthusiastic tone during my daughter's recent climbing camp. Overall, the technical aspects of the experience were obviously well managed and under control, the teaching broadly based and educational, and the climbing itself appropriately challenging. But above that, the attitude of you and your staff - Fred, Dana, Jim, Dave and Jamal - was notable. All of you came across as genuinely enthusiastic, supportive, and personally encouraging. Alison simply enjoyed being around you all and, despite her lesser significant climbing experience, felt valued and inspired. Your camaraderie and spirit of endeavor, along with your genuine friendliness, really made her week.

I can tell you that my experience was similar. I had a great day climbing with Zeb, and my contact with you and your staff was notable. Everyone I came into contact with initiated conversation, knew my name, knew my daughter, and regaled me with updates. Perhaps you know that, unfortunately, not all parent experiences with camps and coaches are so personal and positive.

Please relay our appreciation to all your staff, and also Dave and Betsy at the Nereledge who also contributed significantly to such a positive experience. I anticipate a return engagement next year and I would be happy to b a reference for anyone considering IMCS.

Youth Group Leader Feedback
The following quote is from a junior high school earth science teacher whom coordinated a program that placed forty students and staff on various local cliffs with IMCS guides:
"Our geology/rock climbing field trip was one of the highlights of the school year. The IMCS guides provided my eighth grade students from Kennett Junior High with an invaluable experience. Because the guides had students belay each other and climb on the same ropes, the students truly had to work together. Unlike the simulations we create in the classroom, the students truly had to cooperate, trust and support each other. They loved it! Their energy was boundless; they never tired of climbing, belaying and encouraging one another. Not only did each student gain confidence in their own potential as a climber, but each student also saw that they were integral to the group as a belayer. Both of these components are crucial to increasing a person's self esteem. The guides at IMCS facilitated this experience with excitement, patience and professionalism that made the day truly fun and rewarding"
