  • North Ridge Annapurna IV - fall season 2003. Climbed to camp 3 at 21,000ft and retreated due to high winds and unconsolidated snow.
  • Annapurna I South Face - Nepal 1989. Winter ascent. Climbed to 22,800'
  • Gasherbrum II - Pakistan 1996. Climbed to ~25,000ft and retreated in the same storm made famous by John Kraukauer's book

  • Exum Mountain Guides - spent the summer of 1999 working as a guide in Grand Teton National Park as part of an IMCS/Exum guide exchange program. Guided Grand Teton nine times (Upper Exum Ridge, Owen/Spaulding route, The Enclosure) during my six week assignment. I look forward to guiding for Exum in the years ahead.

  • Rock climbing - South Africa (Table Mountain)
  • Rock climbing - Arizona (Cochise Stronghold, Sedona and
    Baboquivari Peak), Utah (Indian Creek, Fisher Towers),
    California (Joshua Tree), Nevada (Red Rocks),
    New York (Shawangunks and the Adirondacks).

  • Hiked the Appalachian Trail 1986 while finishing Master's degree in physiology. Hiked from Georgia to Maine but decided to stay in New Hampshire instead of finishing the remaining three hundred miles of trail (never made it back to graduate school either).

  • My wife Karen and I have a daughter named Zoë. She was born February 9th, 1999. She spent her first summer with us in a tent next to Cottonwood Creek in the Tetons with a beautiful view of Mt Teewinot. Zoë accompanied us on expedition to Ecuador when she was 19 months old.
