Leave home and arrive in Quito (9350 ft). We will
be picked up at the airport and taken to the Alston
Inn to check into our rooms. |

Tour of the City of Quito, including the "Old Town". See impressive architecture in Old Quito's churches, cathedrals
and observatory. This is a good day to get out for a long walk and
see the city. |

3 |
Hike Guagua
Pichincha (15,728 ft.) to begin our acclimatization. This volcano erupted in 1999. Stay in Quito. |

4 |
Travel to Otavalo to experience Saturday Market. This market is world famous and amongst the most colorful in all of Ecuador. This is a good place to shop for holiday gifts and to try your hand at bargaining with the locals. Stay in Otavalo. |

5 |
Climb Imbabura (15,190 ft.) This is a wonderful acclimatization hike with beautiful views of Cayambe, our first mountaineering peak. Stay in Otavalo. |

6 |
Travel to Cayambe (18,991 ft.) and hike to refugio. Stay in refugio. |
|
7 |
Spend the day on the Cayambe glacier practicing glacier travel skills. |

8 |
A midnight start will take us to the summit of Cayambe, where hopefully we will watch a beautiful sunrise. We then descend to the comforts of Gua chala Hacienda to stay the night. |

9 |
Visit the hot springs at Oyacachi and travel to Hacienda La Cienega or Tambopaxi Lodge near the base of Cotapaxi (19,347 ft). |

10 |
Continue to Cotapaxi and hike to the Refugio Jose Rivas. Stay at Refugio Jose Rivas. |

11 |
A midnight start will take us to the summit of Cotopaxi. Descend and stay at Hacienda La Cienega or Tambopaxi Lodge. |

Travel to hot springs at Papallacta, dine at a fine restaurant and spend the night in a cabaña by your own private hot spring. |

13 |
Travel to Quito and pack. |

14 |
Extra day. |

Leave for home. |
