you are interested in trekking to Everest basecamp please give us
a call at (603) 356-6316. We can make arraignments for private individuals
or large groups. Rick is a seventeen-trip veteran of travelling, trekking
and climbing in Nepal with Celia joining him on seven of these adventures.
Together, we feel we can be a wonderful information resource to anyone
curious about the details of travel and trekking in Nepal. |

| As many of you know the Maoists have have
been in Nepal for the last four years causing a certain amount of
unrest. To my knowledge no trekker or climber has ever been injured
by this political group. They have, however, fought a guerilla battle
with the police and military. |
|
During
this unrest, Celia and I have traveled to Nepal a number of times.
We have never actually met these Maoists but have talked with many
people who have and they make the point that the Maoists are mostly
after money and camera flashes from which to make detonators for
bombs. They usually ask for 1,000 rupees ($13 USD) each to pass
then give out a receipt so you are allowed to pass when you meet
the next group. They have even been described as friendly. Most
people run into them below 10,000 ft. There is a general cease fire
in place now between the Maoists and the government. We feel that
travel in Nepal is as safe as travel in Miami, FL. Celia and I have
spent a lot of time in this area and have a few ideas to minimize
any possibility of problems with the Maoists. |
If you are interested in joining the trekking
team please give us a call at
(603) 356-6316 to schedule a meeting so we can discuss details of
the trip with you. We already have seven deposits for this trip and
are looking for a group of 12-15 trekkers. |
