International Mountain Climbing School is now running climbing trips to
KILIMANJARO!
This adventure will be led by Rick and Celia Wilcox. Having just returned from a successful July 2007 trip, Rick & Celia are excited to return next summer and work with our new-found African guides for another climb of Kilimanjaro. After leading or participating in over forty high altitude expeditions, Rick has a deep appreciation for altitude. Kilimanjaro, at 19,340’ has serious altitude concerns.  The Breach Wall on Kilmanjaro.Photo by IMCS guide Craig John. We liked the Machame Route because, while rugged, it offers non-technical high altitude hiking. Because of our strong porter staff, all you ever have to carry is your day pack.
While there are certainly lots of reported operators, the main reason to go with IMCS is our extensive experience keeping people safe at high altitude.  We always carry a Gamov Bag with us.  While not fans of Diamox, we know when and how to use it.
We were pleasantly surprised with the quality and knowledge of our Tanzanian guides, cooks and porters.  They do a fantastic job keepping us healthy and serving great food.  We look forward to working with guides like Lazaro and John, who has climbed the peak 400 times. The African "guides" do a great job, but if you have a problem at 18,000 feet, it's good to know that you have a real pro with you. Kilimanjaro Expedition Leader and IME owner Rick Wilcox
Some people climb Kilimanjaro in as fast as four days. Only 40% of these groups make the summit. Last year we took eight days to do the climb. This included our sixth night in the crater at 19,000 feet. On the morning of the seventh day we climb only 300 vertical feet to the highest point, Uhuru Peak (19,340 feet). All fouteen climbers on the 2007 team summited together. I relaly believe this is the best way to climb the mountain and with high altitude why rush.
After our climb, we will return to our hotel for a day of R&R. We will spend the next three days on safari!  Viewing some of the most fascinating animals on our planet!  We will see elephants, giraffes and lions for sure along with many other animals on the plains, in the forests and in the water.  Bring lots of film or Mega Bytes. During our three days in the National Parks we will spend the nights in the safari lodges.
